Rani Mahal offers a straightforward yet genuine Indian dining experience tucked into the heart of Paris’s 2nd arrondissement. The restaurant’s focus is on South Asian flavors served in a contemporary, softly lit setting that gives it a relaxed but refined atmosphere. Expect a modern interior that balances comfort with clean design touches, making it a fitting spot for both solo meals and casual dinners with friends or colleagues.

This place is best suited for those looking to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine that doesn’t shy away from true spice and flavor complexity, with plenty of vegan options available. Dishes like lamb biryani and chicken madras come recommended for those seeking hearty, robust options, while vegetarians and vegans appreciate choices like palak paneer and dal makhani complemented by fresh cheese or garlic naan. The menu also includes aromatic classics alongside a few lesser-seen dishes, ensuring variety without overwhelming newcomers.

Service is consistently described as welcoming and attentive, with staff making an effort to communicate warmly in English amidst the lunch or dinner rush, which helps create a comfortable environment even for visitors who don’t speak French. This attentiveness reinforces the overall approachable yet polished vibe of the restaurant.

For timing, lunchtime can be lively but efficient, making it a good option for a quicker meal during a day of exploring Paris. Dinner steps up the atmosphere slightly with softer lighting and a more relaxed pace, ideal for savoring the layers of spices and textures in each dish without feeling rushed.

Overall, Rani Mahal suits anyone wanting a genuine taste of Indian cooking in Paris without pretense, supported by a friendly staff and a setting that encourages lingering over food and conversation. It fits neatly in a neighborhood busy with local workers and travelers looking for a solid, flavorful meal that hits the right notes on both authenticity and comfort.

I absolutely loved visiting this restaurant! I was solo travelling in Paris and found this lovely place during the lunch rush hour. Even though it was busy, I was able to get my food pretty quickly. I had their chicken Biryani and it was superb! Mr Singh offered great service as well as the other staff members. Although, I didn't speak any French, they welcomed me kindly and spoke in English. It's a great place for tourists to feel at home. I needed somewhere to charge my phone and charging facilities were available for me to use. I also used the bathroom there which was absolutely spotless! Overall, this place deserves more than 5 stars in my opinion!

Good ambience and good food! I have tried Indian restaurants in the city before but was always disappointed, this place has flavourful Indian food that was sufficiently spicy and had the right flavours! I enjoyed the Matar Paneer and Madras Chicken with a side of garlic naan. Would recommend

The food was excellent and the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and welcoming. The atmosphere was very pleasant - modern interior design and soft indirect lighting. We felt very comfortable throughout the entire visit.

Excellent ! Just walked in, dinner for one! Lovely service , really helpful and friendly. I had the lamb madras and it was excellent , a little spicy , tender and soft lamb and a super cheese naan. Really good menu with all the classics and some not so classic. Will be coming back for sure !

As an indian, it is always difficult to find good indian food outside India. Here in Paris , this restaurant has totally altered the taste as per french ppl’s taste buds….everything is extremely sweet. There is a taste in Indian food and it is not just spicy. Had to eat here because there were no other options nearby for good indian food. We had thali and the way they added red food color to the tikkas is insane!! It is my sincere request to all indian food restaurants to please stop adding food color to food. You can make it bland but plz don’t add color.

I really enjoyed the food at Rani Mahal. Going on a Monday was great—it was nice and quiet, which made it easy to get a table as a solo diner. I ordered the Tawa Salmon, Dal Taka, plain naan, and rice with peas. The food tasted very good. I likely ordered too much, so next time I will skip the rice, but overall it was a great meal.
